Um, how did it get to be almost two months since my last post?! Well, I'll tell you how. It's been pretty full on over in the Chrisoulakis universe, to be honest. Let's start with my birthday: I turned 32 on August 11. That's weird. Two days later, I hopped on a plane to London, where I met up with Michael (who had forgotten said birthday, so suffice to say there were BIG TALKS to be had).
We spent three weeks hanging around the UK, France and Spain (more on that later). It was all so lovely... and then we received a phone call. Michael's father, who has been ill for some time, had passed away. It was pretty bloody awful, but I'm so glad I was with Michael when he got the news. That's something, right? We immediately changed our travel plans and rushed back to Tasmania, where the funeral was held. It was so very hard to watch Michael and his family say goodbye. And it was very, very hard to say goodbye to Michael when it was time for him to go back to LA. I hate to sound cliched, but it did give me a wake up call about what's important. I don't want to miss a moment with him, but we made this choice to live apart for this limited period of time and we just have to try and make the most of it.
Getting back into a routine felt weird and hard (see: no blog posts). And besides, within two weeks I was back on a plane to L.A. to be with Michael for his 40th. I was tossing up whether to go or not, but in the end I'm glad I did (and hey, I think Michael is too). It's been such an emotional and strange time for him. And for me, I found being back in LA both a reality check and a balm for my soul. You know when you miss something so much it takes on legendary status? That was what was happening with LA. Going back reminded me that yeah, it's great, but it's not going anywhere, and I'm not missing much. I caught up with only a few people but I spent quality time with the dogs and that's what matters, right? Five days later, and I was headed home.
And now, here I am. Ready to start afresh. With six weeks left to this whole crazy stint! (Yep, if you've been counting, I'm here for an extra two weeks to help out the Women's Health crew). There are so many things I want to do here, and so many people I still want to see.
Here goes! Xx
