How's 2015 treating you? I always feel simultaneously pumped and despondent at this time of year: full of goals and plans and hopes, and also the memory of all the goals, plans and hopes from the previous year that didn't quite happen. But 2014 was pretty good: I travelled a ton (Mexico City, NYC, Tucson, the South, Australia, Nashville, Palm Springs), felt more settled in my work and L.A. life, made new friends, deepened other relationships, improved my Spanish (marginally), tried new stuff and got to hang out with furry animals most days. So: not too shabby. This year, I want travel, which has been such a big focus the last two years, to go on the backburner - bar a European trip in the summer for a friend's wedding - and instead focus on the boring stuff that being a happy and responsible adult involves: health and managing my money better. SNORE, I know. My gym membership just expired, and I thought I'd try something different so I've signed up for ClassPass, which lets you try an unlimited number of boutique classes at a ton of studios in LA. I'm back on Whole30, the strict Paleo reset that broke me of my snacking habits a few months ago. And I've downloaded the Mint app, to try and keep my budget on track. We'll see how I go... In the meantime, here's some fun stuff from the internets this week, ICYMI:
The most hilariously horrifying trends of the early Aughties (and yes, guilty as charged)
A slew of great TV series to watch this season
Cossies or bathers? The regional differences in Aussie slang (this made me SO homesick)
Get this guy a kid's show, stat
How to be photogenic
What it was like to backpack around Europe in 1950
A cat playing ping pong!
Starbucks is introducing flat whites to its menus... and I'm torn between national pride and utter fear.
Have a lovely weekend! Xx
