Just when a girl thinks L.A. hasn't changed her, she's struck by the urge to hold a vision boarding party. Wait! Before you laugh and leave:
Do you like snacks?
Do you like hanging out with your friends?
Did you enjoy cutting out pictures from magazines when you were at school?
Do you really miss using glue sticks?
Did I mention snacks?
And do you have some kind of hope/dream/world-domination plot, no matter how big or small?
I THOUGHT SO. Even though I don't really buy into the whole visualisation-manifesting-laws-of-attraction hoo-ha that made the lady who wrote The Secret very, very rich, I do believe in 'putting things out into the universe'. Who knows if the universe is even listening - personally, I think there's plenty of power in our own ability to make shit happen once we've pinpointed what exactly that shit is, so to speak. And that's kinda the point. Call it goal-setting, call it manifesting, call it a to-do list with a ton of glitter, call it getting together a group of friends and tiny dogs for an afternoon of snacking and chatting, but vision boarding is fun.
ALSO: it totally works. As we chatted about what we were putting on our boards, Miss Gypsy mentioned she wanted more karaoke in her life (hey, we all have dreams). The next day, up pops an email in my inbox, inviting me - and whoever I'd like to bring - to the opening of a new karaoke bar in West Hollywood. Tick! Sarah, who is in town for the premiere of her film, Predestination (which is amazing, btw!), pasted up a pic of a few A-list thespians she'd like to work with. Two days later, she scored a role in a big movie with one of them (who must remain nameless because of the very-fabulous nature of the film). Tick! Coincidences? Maybe. But I can't wait to see what else happens...
Are you a fan of vision boards? Xx
