I'm writing this in an airport lounge, waiting for a long-delayed flight to Sydney. But I don't mind - not really - because I have been on a girl's trip and THEY ARE ONE THE GREATEST THINGS EVER INVENTED. Most of the time, I live on the other side of the world to my bestest friend Faith, but for the past three days we've been living the good life on Hayman Island, at the beautiful One & Only resort. It was chockers with honeymooners, babymooners and romance... and then there was us: bombing the pool, laughing like hysterical teenagers and taking way too many cheesy photos. I couldn't have been happier.
Sure, I love a romantical holiday with Michael, but there's something so special about having girl time - and hey, it doesn't hurt if it's in a tropical paradise. I feel lucky that I've had so many fun times with my lady friends over the years - cooking up storms in rented beach homes, gingerly trying unidentifiable street food, flirting with boys - and I treasure the times that we've been able to spend together free from jobs, dudes and drama (usually). Some of those friendships have been through rough patches and others no longer even exist, but I still have such happy memories of those moments when everything was good. Consider this me raising a cocktail-in-a-coconut to girlfriend getaways - may there be plenty more where they came from.
